“design by neil poulton”
neil poulton is a scottish product designer, based in paris, france. he specializes in the design of ‘deceptively simple-looking mass-produced objects’ and has won numerous international design awards.
in november and december 2013, the croatian academy of sciences and arts presented “design by neil poulton”, the first major solo exhibition of the designer. held in the main 360 metre square, ground floor gallery of the the glyptotheque hazu museum in zagreb, croatia., the exhibition was sponsored by the croatian ministry of culture , the city of zagreb and the institut français.
the exhibition showed the work of the designer over a 21 year period through finished products, lighting, models, prototypes, product components and sketches. presented works included designs for companies including artemide, lacie, atelier sedap, christofle, vertigo bird, danese milano, électronique d2 and glenmorangie.
media coverage of the event included two 30 minute-long tv specials by the arts shows “drugi format” and “trikultura”, both broadcast on hrt3, croatia’s national cultural tv channel.
